The problem of hypertension is increasing rapidly in India, which can pose a threat to the heart.According to experts, the problem of high blood pressure is a major cause of cardiovascular disease.
Tips To Prevent Hypertension: In today’s times, hypertension is spreading like an epidemic. When the pressure in a person’s blood vessels becomes higher than normal, then it is called high blood pressure or hypertension. Hypertension is a serious disease, which many people suffer from, but many people do not know that they have this disease. According to health experts, a large number of people become victims of cardiovascular disease due to hypertension. This is the reason why it is also called silent killer. If hypertension is not taken care of, this disease can be dangerous. Therefore, it is very important to measure blood pressure properly and keep it under control. Today, on the occasion of World Hypertension Day, let us know the opinion of doctors.
Dr. Vivek Tandon, Additional Director, Interventional Cardiology Department, Fortis Hospital, Greater Noida told AnyTV. There are two types of hypertension. Primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension is quite common and there is no exact cause. This can be due to factors like genetic factors, diet, exercise etc. Secondary hypertension is less common and is caused by a medical condition such as kidney problem or thyroid disorder. Hypertension is a big problem in India. About 33% people in urban areas and 25% in rural areas suffer from hypertension. However, only 40% of these urban and 25% rural people are aware of this disease.
Doctor Tandon says that it can be difficult to control high blood pressure in low and middle income countries, because many people in these countries are not aware of the dangers and symptoms of hypertension. Apart from this, there is a shortage of doctors and health services in rural and underdeveloped areas. By increasing awareness, increasing access to health care and accurate blood pressure monitoring, this problem can be helped to control to a great extent. Doctors believe that 90% of hypertension cases can be prevented by making necessary changes in lifestyle and diet.
Dr. RK Saran, Director of Clinical and Preventive Cardiology at Medanta Heart Institute, Lucknow, told AnyTV. That every 5th adult person has blood pressure more than 130/80 mg/dL. The main reason for this is spoiled lifestyle. Many people need to take a tablet daily to control it. To control BP, a good lifestyle, brisk walk, losing weight, low fat, low salt and low sugar diet, consuming plenty of fruits and vegetables, quitting smoking and yoga are very important. With all these things the dose of antihypertensive medicines can be reduced. All people should check their BP from time to time and if it is found to be increased, then immediately contact a doctor and consult.
