Thane In Maharashtra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya has launched a campaign against loudspeakers at religious places in Thane. He said that after Mumbai, work has started to make Thane ‘loudspeaker free’. Somaiya alleged that loudspeakers are being used in mosques violating the rules of High Court and Police Administration. BJP leaders reached Thane on Wednesday. He said, “I have come to Thane. I am meeting the Thane police and officers of the nearby police stations. I have requested him that if Mumbai can be made free from loudspeakers, Thane should also be made loudspeakers free.”
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said, “Mumbra police station told me that there are more than 150 mosques and madrasas using loudspeakers. There are more than 600 loudspeakers in total and no one has taken permission.”
Somaiya said, “We have launched a loudspeaker -free Thane campaign. 80 percent of mosques in Thane use loudspeakers and High Court orders are not being followed. The police is also not taking any action on it.”
Giving information about his campaign, Kirit Somaiya said that we will meet the Police Commissioner next week and the Thane loudspeaker will be free within a month. He said that by August 15, 50 percent Thane loudspeaker will be free. At the same time, by August 31, the entire city will be loudspeaker free.
On the loudspeakers used in the Ganeshotsav, Somaiya said, “Government permission is taken during festivals. But, in mosques, loud sounds are played 5 times a day in a loudspeakers, on which no sound limit is applied. It is said to be out of the realm of law, which is wrong.”
