Monsoon is knocking in the country on 30 May
In many parts of the country, life is in trouble due to severe heat and heat wave. For the last two days, the maximum temperature in many cities of Rajasthan is being recorded much higher than normal. Phalodi district of the state was the hottest, the temperature of the district has reached 51 degrees Celsius. At the same time, many states including Delhi, UP Bihar are in the grip of heat. Not only this, if we talk about the mountains, the temperature in Jammu has also crossed 42 degrees and in Una of Himachal, the temperature has crossed 44 degrees. Meanwhile, the matter of relief is that the Meteorological Department has given great news and said that monsoon is knocking in the country in the next two to three days.
This year there will be more rain than normal
India Meteorological Department chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said in a media briefing on Monday that the country is expected to receive above normal rainfall this monsoon season, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat. “The southwest monsoon rainfall over the country as a whole is likely to be 106% of the long period average with a model error of 4%. Thus, the country as a whole is likely to receive above normal rainfall,” Mohapatra said.
This is in line with the prediction of above normal rainfall this monsoon due to favourable La Nina conditions between August and September. The Meteorological Department has said that this year the monsoon is likely to receive above normal rainfall. The IMD says that conditions are becoming favourable for the onset of monsoon in Kerala in the next 5 days. Normally the monsoon arrives in Kerala on June 1, but this year the southwest monsoon will knock in Kerala on May 31 itself.
Many states of the country are in the grip of severe heat
Let us tell you that on Sunday, 37 places in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh recorded temperatures of 45 degrees or more, while on Saturday, only 17 places in the country had temperatures of 45 degrees or more. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for severe heatwave in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh for the next two days. Whereas, yellow alert for heatwave has been issued in different areas of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat. IMD says that heat conditions are likely to continue in many states of the country.
The IMD has predicted western disturbances over northwest India from Thursday as El Nino conditions are turning neutral. Coastal Bengal is likely to receive very heavy rainfall today after Cyclone Ramal made landfall in Bangladesh last night. The northeast will receive extremely heavy rainfall till tomorrow, the weather office said. Cyclone Ramal is the first pre-monsoon cyclone to form in the Bay of Bengal this season.
