Thiruvananthapuram: After the recent tragedy in Kerala, once again the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for many districts of Kerala. Let us tell you that today on Saturday also there was intermittent rain at many places in Kerala. Meanwhile, heavy rains have been predicted in Palakkad and Malappuram districts on Saturday and in Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on Sunday. Apart from this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rains in many districts in the coming days.

Alert issued for these districts

According to the latest update from the IMD, the northern districts of Palakkad and Malappuram have been placed under “Orange Alert” on Sunday. An Orange Alert was issued for Pathanamthitta and Idukki on August 12 and for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram on August 13. Orange alert means very heavy rainfall ranging from 11 cm to 20 cm. Apart from this, in view of the forecast of heavy rains, the officials have urged people to be cautious and instructed those living in dilapidated houses to move to safer places. They also warned people not to cross rivers and other water bodies or take bath there in view of heavy rains.

PM Modi visited Wayanad

Let us tell you that after the recent landslide incident in Wayanad in which hundreds of people died, today PM Modi visited the affected areas. After visiting the tragedy-hit areas, PM Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting on the Wayanad landslide incident and the ongoing relief efforts. During this, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was also present there. PM Modi said, “Ever since I heard about this disaster, I have been in touch here and kept getting information every moment. All the organs of the central government that can be useful in this situation were immediately put to work, to help the families who are trapped in it. This tragedy is not normal. The dreams of hundreds of families have been destroyed.” (input language)
