Many trains cancelled due to Ramal.
New Delhi: The effect of the cyclonic storm Ramal forming in the Bay of Bengal has started to be seen. This cyclone will hit the coastal areas by tonight. While the governments are making full preparations due to Ramal, the effect of this cyclonic storm is also being seen on the Indian Railways. Many trains have been canceled due to Ramal storm. Along with this, helpline numbers have also been issued. 12 NDRF teams have been formed in the state to deal with the cyclone. Apart from this, 15 disaster response teams have been formed in Kolkata.
Many trains have also been cancelled due to cyclonic storm Remal. The trains which have been cancelled are as follows-
- Train No. 22897 (Howrah-Digha Kandari Express) will not operate on 26th May.
- Train No. 08137 (Panskura-Digha EMU Passenger Special) will not operate on 26th May.
- Train No. 08139 (Panskura-Digha EMU Passenger Special) will not operate on 26th May.
- Train No. 22898 (Digha-Howrah Kandari Express) will not operate on 26th May.
- Train No. 08136 (Digha-Panskura EMU Passenger Special) will not operate on 27th May.
- Train No. 08138 (Digha-Panshkudra EMU Passenger Special) will not operate on 27th May.
- Train No. 22889 (Digha – Puri Superfast Weekly Train) will operate from Kharagpur instead of Digha on 26th May.
Helpline numbers issued
Keeping in mind the damage caused by Ramal, control rooms have already been set up. For this, a special control room has been opened in Lalbazar. An ‘Integrated Comment Center’ has been set up in this control room. Apart from police officers, members of Fire Brigade, Works Department, Electricity Department, Forest Department, Disaster Response Force, Kolkata Municipality will also be present in this control room. Apart from this, the control room of Lalbazar can be contacted by calling 9432610428 and 9432610429.
Pre-monsoon cyclone
Let us tell you that Remal has turned into a severe cyclonic storm and it is expected to reach between Sagar Island of West Bengal and Khepupara of Bangladesh by Sunday night. The Meteorological Department has said that this is the first cyclone to hit the Bay of Bengal in the pre-monsoon season. According to the information given by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8 am on Sunday, ‘Remal’ has turned into a severe cyclonic storm over the North Bay of Bengal and is centered about 290 km south-southeast of Khepupara and 270 km south-southeast of Sagar Island.
Heavy rain warning on 27-28 May
The IMD said that it is expected to intensify further and cross the West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara at midnight. It predicted that the winds will blow at a speed of 110 to 120 kmph and their speed will be up to 135 kmph during this time. According to other weather models, the cyclone may reach the coast by late evening. The weather office has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal and North Odisha on Sunday. Parts of Northeast India may also receive extremely heavy rainfall on May 27-28.
