New Delhi, April 24 (-AnyTV News)| In West Bengal, the old BJP leaders are unhappy with the party giving more importance to defectors. Fighting between old leaders and new faces of other parties has become a concern for the BJP in the state, which has been intensifying after last year’s assembly elections.
Ideologically committed workers, who fought and formed the party in West Bengal, are feeling neglected. Seniors in the West Bengal BJP feel that the old cadre is unhappy with the newcomers being given too much importance and prominence.
A senior said, there is a general feeling among the cadres that the party leaders are not thinking anything about them. The way he is being treated now after decades of hard work to build a party in the state is disappointing.
Another veteran leader pointed out that a lot of prominence was given to defectors of TMC during the assembly elections and it continues till date.
“Many TMC defectors who joined BJP before the assembly elections left us. We are feeling neglected by the way the party’s workers and leaders are giving importance to defectors. The party should not forget that they fought violent cadres of the ruling party for years and are still fighting.
West Bengal BJP leaders claimed that there is complete confusion in the state unit and there is no clarity or uniformity on the issues.
One of the reasons for the defeat of the BJP candidate in the Asansol Lok Sabha by-election is the displeasure of the old workers.
Many feel that TMC’s defection leaders are being given too much importance and loyal workers are being sidelined.
He said, with every passing day, the differences between the state leadership and the loyal leaders of the party are increasing. The state leadership is failing to hold it all together. The central leadership should intervene to control the damage caused to the party in the last one year after the assembly elections.
Commenting on the functioning of the West Bengal BJP, a leader said, even six months after taking over as the new president of the state unit, Dr Sukanta Majumdar has failed to constitute all committees at the state, district and block levels. Will have to take responsibility for this.
When asked about the differences between the old leaders and the new faces, BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh told -AnyTV News that those who fought and led the movement to build the party should be given importance.
One has to understand that the situation in Bengal is different from other states. In Bengal, the ruling party workers attacked the opposition workers. Many BJP leaders and workers fought against the violent attacks of the ruling party and built the party. Ghosh said, the party will have to think to strengthen the fight against Mamata Banerjee and take her into confidence.
