Raipur: In Chhattisgarh, voting is to be held in seven parliamentary constituencies in the third phase of Lok Sabha on Tuesday. More than 1 crore 39 lakh voters are going to vote in this phase, out of which 2174 have crossed the age of 100. The number of first-time voters is around four lakh.
A total of 168 candidates are in the fray
Voting is to be held in seven parliamentary constituencies in the state on Tuesday, Surguja, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Bilaspur, Durg and Raipur. A total of 168 candidates are in the fray for these seven seats, out of which the number of women candidates is 26. Out of 1 crore 39 lakh 1285 voters in the state, the number of voters above 85 years of age is 61715, while the number of voters who have crossed the age of 100 is 2174. The number of first time voters is 398461.
There are 58 assembly constituencies in the seven parliamentary constituencies where voting is to be held in the third phase. The important thing in this is that in 29 assembly constituencies the sex ratio of voters is more than 1000. 15701 polling stations have been set up for the third phase of voting, in which apart from 61664 polling personnel, there are 15928 reserve personnel.
Special arrangements for voters
Special arrangements have been made to ensure that voters coming to polling stations do not face any problems during the summer season. Special arrangements have been made for soft drinking water, lemon, water and ORS solution at polling stations. Besides, colors have also been applied. Not only this, there is also a provision of shade for the voters who will stand in the queue. Not only this, a waiting hall has also been built. Along with this, medical kit along with essential medicines will also be available.
State Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that under the third phase, voting will be held in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir-Champa (reserved for Scheduled Caste), Surguja (reserved for Scheduled Tribe) and Raigarh (ST) seats. All preparations have been made. He told that the voting time on seven seats is from 7 am to 6 pm. The official said that a total of 168 candidates, including 26 women, are in the fray in the third phase. He told that there are maximum 38 candidates in Raipur seat, 37 in Bilaspur, 27 in Korba, 25 in Durg, 18 in Janjgir-Champa, 13 in Raigarh and 10 in Surguja. 15,701 polling stations have been set up in seven constituencies, of which 25 polling stations have been classified as hyper-sensitive and 1072 as sensitive.
