The central government has issued new guidelines for international tourists amid growing concern over a new variant of the corona virus, Omicron. Under this, the passenger will have to give his information on the air facility portal. The new guidelines mandate a separate waiting area for travelers from “at-risk” countries. Several states, including Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, have issued rules for foreign tourists, which will be effective from tomorrow, December 1.
According to this report, according to the advisory issued by the Center, the self-declaration form will have to be filled on the air facility portal before boarding. This portal contains information of international tourists who have visited India in the last 14 days. It has also been said in the new guideline that airlines should follow proper procedures for screening about 5 percent of the passengers on the flight. “Each airport may be demarcated with a separate holding area where passengers will wait for the RT-PCR test results) with suitable facilities for passengers coming from at-risk countries,” the advisory said. The government has said that additional RT-PCR facilities can be set up at all airports if needed.
Talking to an international agency, a GMR spokesperson told the agency, “We are aware of the new guidelines and we will be ready with necessary arrangements in a time bound manner keeping in mind the new guidelines and the convenience of the passengers.” We will ensure compliance with COVID-19 regulations during the stay of passengers inside the terminal.
