The prices of liquor have increased in Rajasthan from today. The Excise Department has increased the prices of many brands including beer and whiskey by up to 5 percent. Now a beer of Rs 120 will be available for Rs 126 and a whiskey with Rs 1,000 will be available for Rs 1,050. However, the prices of select brands have also been reduced by 1 to 5%, which can provide relief to some consumers.
The government earns billions of rupees.
At present, about 7,765 licensed liquor shops are running in the state, which are spread from villages to cities. Last year, the Excise Department received revenue of Rs 17,200 crore from these shops. This department is the biggest source of revenue for the state government. In such a situation, the change in prices will have a direct impact on the government revenue and market.
It is mandatory to display new MRP list in shops.
Under the new policy, it has now been made mandatory to display a new MRP list at all shops so that customers can get the correct and accurate information about prices. The department has made it clear that liquor will no longer be sold at old rates and strict action will be taken on violations. The monitoring teams of the department will regularly inspect the shops and will be fined for any irregularity. Its purpose is to maintain transparency and protect consumers’ rights.
