Apart from India and Pakistan, teams from host China, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia are also participating in it. The first match will be played between South Korea and Japan on 8 September, on the same day the Indian hockey team will be seen clashing with China. The Indian team will clash with Japan on 9 September, Malaysia on 11 September, South Korea on 12 September and then Pakistan on 17 September.
Top 4 teams will go to the semi-finals
All the teams will play their matches against each other, after which the top 4 teams will directly enter the semi-finals. The Indian hockey team performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Paris Olympics and won the bronze medal. The team played well throughout the tournament, but in the semi-finals it suffered a close defeat at the hands of Germany, due to which its dream of winning gold and silver remained unfulfilled. Earlier, India had also won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This is the first time since 1972 that India has won two consecutive medals back to back in the Olympics.
