Rahul Gandhi was seated in the back row at the Independence Day celebrations.
New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday claimed that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was made to sit in the back row during the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. On the issue, the Congress said that making Rahul Gandhi sit in the back row reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frustration and shows that the government has no care for democracy and democratic traditions. Party spokesperson and head of social media cell Supriya Shrinet also said that this does not matter to Rahul Gandhi.
‘Arrangement was done as per the priority table’
On the other hand, government sources said that all seating arrangements were made according to the priority list and this year it was decided that the medal winners of Paris Olympics will be honored as special guests in the Independence Day celebrations. According to sources, this is the reason why the Olympic medal winners were seated in the front. Supriya Shrinet claimed in a statement, ‘It is meaningless to expect big things from people with small minds. Narendra Modi has definitely shown his frustration by making the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi sit in the fifth row in the Independence Day celebrations, but this does not make any difference to Rahul Gandhi.’
‘The status of the Leader of the Opposition is that of a Cabinet Minister’
Supriya Shrinet further said, ‘The status of the leader of the opposition is that of a cabinet minister, the ministers of the government were sitting in the first row, so these people with a petty mindset do not even care about democracy and democratic traditions.’ She said that the statement of the Defense Ministry is exposing the government. Supriya said, ‘The truth is that Modi and his ministers avoid eye contact with Rahul Gandhi, and become uncomfortable. Whether Rahul Gandhi sits in the fifth row or the fiftieth, he will remain the leader of the people. But when will you people stop doing such dirty acts?’
Congress leader Vivek Tankha also raised questions
Let us tell you that earlier, Congress leader Vivek Tankha shared a picture of Rahul Gandhi sitting at the Independence Day event and posted on ‘X’, ‘Why is the Defense Ministry behaving so pettily. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi sat in the fourth row in the Lok Sabha. The Leader of Opposition is above any cabinet minister. In the Lok Sabha, he is after the Prime Minister. Rajnath Singh ji, you cannot allow the national programs of the Defense Ministry to be politicized. This was not expected from you, Rajnath ji.’
