Kolkata. Senior Trinamool Congress leader and MP Shatrughan Sinha has described the opposition alliance ‘INDI’ Alliance as ‘filter coffee’. Which is gaining momentum in view of the Lok Sabha elections and citing Congress’s past record of making a comeback in politics, he also stressed on not making the mistake of considering it weak. Praising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his ‘revolutionary march’ across the country, the Asansol MP said the role of Trinamool supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be ‘game-changing’ after the announcement of Lok Sabha election results. Actor-turned-politician Sinha, in an interview to ‘PTI-Bhasha’, described electoral bonds as a ‘big scam and extortion racket’.
MP Shatrughan Sinha said that ‘the seven-phase elections are a boon for the opposition parties to expose the BJP’s extortion and blackmailing gang in the form of electoral bonds.’ He said that ‘BJP will be defeated in this election. If the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has the support of CBI, ED and Income Tax, then the India Alliance has the support of the public. Many people think that India does not have partners, but the reality is that people are its biggest ally. The opposition alliance is gaining ground in various parts of the country.
‘INDI’ alliance like ‘Filter Coffee’
Shatrughan Sinha claimed that the ‘INDI’ alliance is like ‘filter coffee’ with ‘strong leaders’ like Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav and many other leaders of the alliance. Sinha said that ‘Many important leaders from across the country are part of the ‘India’ alliance and that is why I have called it filter coffee. When other opposition leaders also join after the elections, the taste of this filter coffee will be even better. Regarding parties like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Trinamool expressing disagreement with Congress leading the opposition alliance, Sinha said, ‘Congress is a national party and it should not be rejected. He has a history and track record of comebacks. Even in the year 2019, it got the maximum seats among the opposition parties.

Grassroots alliance is not possible in some states
When asked about AAP and TMC not gaining momentum in states like Punjab and West Bengal despite being part of the opposition alliance at the national level, Sinha said, ‘A grassroots alliance is not possible in some states because it The place of opposition will go to BJP. Ridiculing the BJP’s claim of securing more than 370 seats on its own and crossing the NDA’s 400-seat mark, Sinha said, ‘Such claims reflect the desperation in the BJP camp.’ Sinha praised Rahul Gandhi for undertaking two big tours in the country. He said that ‘Rahul Gandhi is a capable leader. He is a tried and tested leader, but at the same time I feel that the role of our party supremo will be a game changer in government formation after the elections. But who will become the Prime Minister will be decided by the opposition parties after the elections. Sinha, who is contesting from Asansol seat for the second time, expressed hope of capturing this seat with a bigger margin than in the 2022 by-election.
