New Delhi: The friendship between India and Bangladesh will now take a new shape from railways to digital screens and from seas to skies. After holding bilateral talks with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, PM Modi has made a big announcement today. According to this, India will become a partner in strengthening better railway connectivity, digitalization and maritime and air security in Bangladesh. PM Modi agreed to start talks on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Bangladesh and prepared a forward-looking vision document to strengthen the overall relations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that Bangladesh is India’s largest development partner and New Delhi gives the highest priority to its relations with it. In Hasina’s presence, he said a forward-looking vision document has been prepared for India-Bangladesh cooperation in new areas. The two sides signed several agreements to take forward ties in the digital sector, maritime sector and railway connectivity among other areas. India and Bangladesh finalised a shared vision document for a “green partnership” after talks between Modi and Hasina.

The agreement on maritime cooperation and ocean economy between the two countries is being considered important. In his statement issued to the media, Modi said that both sides have agreed to start negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to further economic relations. Prime Minister Modi said that there was also extensive discussion on increasing defense cooperation. “We welcome Bangladesh’s decision to join the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative.”
‘ She said India values relations with Bangladesh and Bangladesh is at the centre of India’s Neighbourhood First Policy, Act East Policy, SAGAR Policy and Indo-Pacific vision. Hasina said that “India is our important neighbour and a time-tested friend” and Dhaka attaches great importance to its relations with New Delhi. (Language)
