New Delhi. India’s journey in Paris Olympics 2024 was an emotional and exciting journey. Indian players won a total of 6 medals this time, including 5 bronze and 1 silver medal. However, the decision on one more medal is yet to come, which can increase India’s total medal count to 7. India won 5 out of 6 bronze medals. The first medal was won by Manu Bhaker in the Women’s 10 meter air pistol single event. Manu also won the second medal for India, which was in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event. Sarabjot Singh was also included with Manu Bhaker in this event.
The third medal was also won in shooting by Swapnil Kusale in the 50m rifle 3P event, making him the first Indian to win a medal in this event. The fourth medal was won by the Indian hockey team after defeating Spain 2-1.
Neeraj Chopra won the fifth medal for India in javelin throw. Neeraj won the silver medal, which was the only silver medal for India in this Olympics. Neeraj Chopra had earlier won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics, so India was expecting a gold medal from him this time. The last and sixth medal was added to India’s account by wrestler Aman Sehrawat. Aman won the bronze medal in the 57 kg category of wrestling.
The case of Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat is still pending. She was earlier disqualified, but she appealed against this decision. If the decision comes in favor of Vinesh after the appeal, then another silver medal can be added to India’s account, taking the total number of medals to 7.
Paris Olympics 2024 was somewhat similar to Tokyo Olympics for India, where India won a total of 7 medals, including 1 gold. But this time India could not get gold in the games. Still, Indian athletes faced adverse circumstances and difficult challenges and brought glory to the country. Now, all eyes are on the case of Vinesh Phogat, which will decide how many medals India will have in total in this Olympics.
