United Nations: India has launched a new database to record crimes against UN peacekeepers and monitor the progress of action against criminals. This has created panic in many camps. In the latest case, Israel had also accused a similar group working under the banner of the United Nations of being involved in a war with Hamas. The database that India has prepared is to take action against crimes by UN peacekeepers around the world.
India’s Ambassador to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj gave this information on Thursday. He said that India is strongly advocating for fixing accountability in this matter. The launch of the database was announced on Tuesday at a high-level meeting of the India-led Group of Friends (GoF). “Pleased to announce the launch of a new database designed to document crimes against peacekeepers and monitor progress in holding perpetrators accountable,” Kamboj said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ .

Designed to act as a data-protector, empowering the Secretariat, missions and Member States to monitor and address cases of malicious acts against peacekeepers. The GOF was formed in 2022 to promote accountability for crimes against peacekeepers during India’s presidency of the UN Security Council. India, Bangladesh, Egypt, France, Morocco and Nepal are co-chairs of the GOF, which comprises 40 member states. (Language)
