India got another bronze medal in Paris Olympics, the pair of shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh created history

New Delhi. Achieving a historic feat at the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have brought laurels to the country by winning another medal. The pair defeated the South Korean team in the 10m air pistol mixed team event to win the bronze medal, adding to India’s medal tally. Manu Bhaker, who created history by becoming the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal in the 10m air pistol event, has continued her stellar performance. She won a bronze medal in the individual event and with this win in the mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh, Bhaker has become the first Indian athlete to win two medals in the same Olympics since India’s independence.

The Indian pair defeated the South Korean pair with a score of 16-10, this is India’s second medal in these Olympics. The achievement is a significant moment for Indian sports, reminiscent of the historic feats of British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics. However, Pritchard’s success came during the pre-independence era, making Bhaker and Singh’s victory a landmark achievement in India’s post-independence Olympic history.
