The demand for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in the country, people are showing more interest in electric vehicles instead of conventional fuel (petrol-diesel). This is being claimed in a recent report, according to a new report by JMK Research and Analytics, this is the first time that the sales of electric vehicles in the country have crossed the 50 thousand mark.
According to this new report of JMK, in the month of December last year, a total of 50,866 units of electric vehicles have been sold across the country, which is a complete 240% more than the month of December 2020 last year. Not only this, in the case of monthly growth, an increase of 21% has been registered as compared to last November. In the month of December 2020, a total of 14,978 units of electric vehicles were registered across the country.

According to this report, the maximum two-wheeler, passenger car and three-wheeler electric vehicles have been sold in the month of December. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers alone account for the highest 90.3% of the total electric vehicles sold in this month. Of this, 48.6% are electric two-wheelers, 5% electric cars and 4.3% electric cargo three-wheelers.

It is also being claimed in the report that Uttar Pradesh has the highest demand for electric vehicles, according to which it is at the number one position in terms of sales of electric vehicles. In this state, about 23 percent of the total vehicle sales in the month of December have been registered for electric vehicles, which is about 10,000 units. Maharashtra is at the second position with 13%, Karnataka with 9%, Rajasthan with 8% and Delhi and Tamil Nadu at fifth with 7%.
The trend of people towards electric vehicles has increased rapidly in the country, especially in the two-wheeler segment, along with many big players, startups have also entered. Companies like Bajaj Auto to TVS and Ola Electric have introduced many great models in this segment. Apart from this, Hero MotoCorp, Suzuki and Yamaha are also going to join this race soon.
At the same time, Tata Motors is in the leading position with its Nexon in the four wheeler electric vehicle segment. On the other hand, models like Hyundai Kona, MG ZS are also very popular among the people. Mahindra has also announced the introduction of four new electric vehicles this year, on the other hand Hyundai is also preparing to electrify India with new models. Experts believe that this year 2022 will be very favorable for electric vehicles.
