Richard R. Verma, Deputy Secretary of State, US.
Washington: The friendship between India and America is going to become stronger now. For this, the Deputy Secretary of State (Management and Resources) of the US State Department, Richard R. Verma is coming to India on a 5-day visit from August 17. During this time, he will hold talks on supporting the prosperous, secure and resilient future of both the countries and further advancing it. The aim of America is to make its strategic relations with India as strong as possible to stop the increasing bullying of China in the South China Sea.
The US State Department statement said that top Indian-American diplomat R Verma will lead a US delegation to India from August 17 to 22, meeting senior government officials, climate leaders, aerospace academics and industry representatives to advance US-India partnership on issues including economic growth, clean energy and climate action. It said that Verma will be accompanied by John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy, and David Turk, Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Energy.
R Verma is currently on a Nepal tour
R Verma is currently visiting Nepal, where a new government was formed last month under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Verma, 55, who has served as US Ambassador to India, is the highest-ranking Indian-American ever in the State Department. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday named Verma as the US Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Reforms in addition to his current post. (Language)
