2023 meeting to be held at Mumbai’s ‘Jio World Convention Center’
Mumbai, 19 February 2022: The next meeting of the International Olympic Committee will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. India got 75 votes out of 76 votes in the voting to host this annual meeting to be held in 2023. After winning the hosting rights with an overwhelming majority, IOC member and Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani called it a proud moment for India.
Leading the Indian delegation, Nita Ambani strongly advocated for the upcoming meeting of the IOC in India. He told the IOC members that “it is our dream to bring Youth Olympics and Olympic Games to India in future. We want the youth of India, the youngest country in the world, to feel the grandeur and grandeur of the Olympics. We want to further strengthen this partnership.”
Expressing happiness on hosting the IOC Annual Meeting, Nita Ambani said, “The Olympic Movement is coming back to India after 40 years of waiting! I would like to present to India the honor of hosting the IOC session in Mumbai in 2023.” Grateful to the Olympic Committee. It will usher in a new era for Indian sports.” Nita Ambani also proposed the launch of a series of specific sports development programs for the youth of disadvantaged communities on the occasion of the Olympic season 2023.
The Indian delegation included Nita Ambani, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Dr Narinder Batra, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Olympic gold medalist in shooting Abhinav Bindra. In the ongoing IOC annual session in Beijing, the Indian delegation virtually joined India’s side to host the upcoming meeting.
International Olympic Committee session will be held in India after four decades. The last event was held in 1983. In the session, IOC members discuss important topics such as the Olympic Charter and the election of the host city of the Olympics. And Indian Olympic Association President Dr. Narinder Batra said in a statement “I thank Mrs. Nita Ambani for her vision and leadership and for all my efforts.” I thank the IOC colleagues for their support.
