India will host the next T20 Asia Cup, Bangladesh will get a chance in 2027

New Delhi. India will host the T20 Asia Cup cricket tournament in 2025. This tournament will be held exactly one year before the T20 World Cup 2026. For this reason, the Asia Cup teams will also use the T20 Asia Cup to test their preparations for the World Cup.

The Asian Cricket Council on Monday announced the hosting of the T20 Asia Cup cricket tournament. The Asia Cup is always used as a preparation for the global event and is played in the same format in which the World Cup will be held.

The 2023 edition of the Asia Cup was hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board on a ‘hybrid model’. India then refused to tour Pakistan and most of its matches were played in Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will host the Asia Cup in ODI format in 2027 as the ODI World Cup is to be played in South Africa this year. There will be 13-13 matches in the Asia Cup in T20 format in India and ODI format in Bangladesh.

The ACC issued a statement saying, ‘Men’s Asia Cup Tournament means a men’s cricket tournament held at an interval of two years among the members nominated by the ACC. It will have the participation of teams from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and a non-Test playing member of the ACC. The non-Test country will make its place in it through the qualifying competition.’
