New Delhi. The tension that arose between the two countries after the confrontation between the Indian and Chinese armies in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh last year is still intact. Due to this, both the countries have deployed a large number of soldiers. The Indian Army has also kept state-of-the-art weapons ready to deal with any situation. Meanwhile, taking a major decision, the Modi cabinet on Wednesday approved the induction of 9400 jawans in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Sources said that for this, it is being considered to set up seven new battalions and a new sector headquarters.
Let us tell you that there is a large deployment of ITBP personnel between the Indo-China border. After the induction of more than 9 thousand soldiers, the security grid on the border will be further strengthened. It is to be known that in the last few years, there have been several skirmishes between the Indian and Chinese forces in eastern Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh on the LAC. There have also been reports of denial of access to several traditional patrolling points in Depsang Plains and Charding Nala area of Ladakh. In such a situation, this decision of the government will help ITBP.
According to a report, talking about this, a Home Ministry official said, “This was a pending proposal of ITBP since 2013-14. Initially it was planned to raise 12 new battalions, but now it has been reduced to seven battalions. This has been done in conjunction with the decision to increase the number of border posts and camps along the LAC. The decision comes in the backdrop of skirmishes between the Indian and Chinese armies in the Yangtze region of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang in December last year. Several Indian soldiers were reported injured in that skirmish. Before and after this incident, Army Chief Manoj Pandey has stated on several occasions that the situation on the China-India border remains stable but still sensitive.
