Protests are taking place in many states of the country regarding the Agneepath scheme and during this time incidents of stone pelting and arson have come to the fore. Several trains have been set on fire. According to reports, the Railways has suffered a loss of 200 crores in Bihar. Amidst all this, the Modi government has made the third amendment within three days. On Saturday, the Defense Ministry announced that Agniveers would be given 10 per cent reservation in ministry jobs.
This decision has been given by tweeting on behalf of the Ministry of Defense. In a tweet made by the Ministry of Defense, it has been said that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the proposal of 10 percent reservation for Agniveers in the recruitment of the Ministry. According to the information given by the ministry, Agniveers will get reservation in appointments in Indian Coast Guard and Defense Civilian Posts as well as in 16 companies of Defense Public Sector Undertaking. It was also told that after the approval of the Defense Minister, necessary amendments will be made, after which this decision will be implemented.
The government has made three amendments within three days in view of the increasing protests by the students. Earlier, it was announced to increase the upper age limit of Agniveer Recruitment from 21 years to 23 years. At the same time, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced to reserve 10% seats for the recruitment of Agniveers in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
On the other hand, despite the announcement of the government, the protest against this scheme is not taking its name to stop. At the same time, the Congress party is also continuously targeting the Modi government and the BJP regarding this scheme. Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar said, “This government is not serious about the future of the youth of this country. Agneepath scheme is a scheme to set the youth of the country on fire. These corners… which corners… stop playing. Take it back without any hesitation.”
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera also targeted the Modi government and said, “This government wants to infuse the mindset of the Sangh into the army. What is the reason that you will keep one in four and walk with three?”
