Congress MP Shashi Tharoor received a call from Home Minister Amit Shah on his birthday. Tharoor tweeted that there must be something special about turning 66. Thank you for the well wishes. From his tweet, it looks like the Congress leader did not expect a call from the Union Home Minister.
According to NDTV, the Congress leader also received birthday wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind. Tharoor tweeted and referred to the letter sent by the PM. In his letter to Tharoor, PM Modi prayed for peace and happiness for him. It is written in the letter that birthday is a special occasion to relive the memories of the past. At the same time, it is also the day which inspires us to fulfill our duties towards our family, society and nation with renewed vigor.

Tharoor tweeted saying that the best wishes from Narendra Modiji touched his heart. He is always ahead in making these traditions of etiquette.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has often been vocal in his criticism of the government and PM Modi. He keeps on leaving sarcasm at the government in his tweets. But he himself does not lag behind in following the etiquette. Along with PM Modi, he has been congratulating senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on his birthday. For this, he had to face criticism on social media from the supporters of his party.
Surprised and touched to receive a telephone call from Home Minister @AmitShah wishing me on my birthday. There must be something special about turning 66! Most grateful for the kind words.

However, Tharoor gave him a befitting reply, saying that he was shocked by the protest over birthday greetings. His question was whether civilization has been destroyed by politics. Gandhiji taught us to respect our political rivals as well.
He said that it seems that doing this now makes me sympathetic to the people associated with the Sangh. He will continue to wish Advani and Narendra Modi on their birthdays and will continue to oppose what they do politically.
