The film ‘The Power of the Dog’ dominated this year’s ‘British Academy of Film and Television Awards’, winning almost all the major awards. Actress and comedian Rebel Wills hosted the awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday. It was telecast live on ‘Sony Liv’.
“The Batman” actor Andy Serkis, who took the stage to present the Best Picture award, slammed the government for discriminatory treatment of refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine before announcing the winner. The film ‘The Power of the Dog’ won the best film award and Jane Campion won the best director award for the same. Actor Benedict Cumberbatch accepted the award in place of Jane Campion.
It is a psychological drama set in New Zealand. Apart from this, Cyan Heder, director of the comedy-drama film ‘Koda’, won the award for the adapted screenplay. Its actor Kotsar Troy was awarded the Best Actor award. The film ‘Koda’ is the story of the child of a deaf man, in which Ruby, the actress Emilia Jones, plays the role of the ‘interpreter’ of her deaf parents and brother. Troye Kotsar plays Jones’ father in the film.
“Dune”, directed by Denis Villeneuve, won five awards in the technical categories, Production Design, Special Effects, Cinematography, Original Score and Sound.
