Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expressway on 16 July at Kaitheri village in Orai tehsil of Jalaun district of UP. As per the claim, the work of this expressway has been completed within 28 months. Let us inform that on February 29, 2020, Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone of Bundelkhand Expressway.
At the same time, BJP may be excited about this expressway, but former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has described it as a half-finished work. In a tweet, he said that it has been inaugurated in a hurry and its design has also remained mobile.
Akhilesh Yadav wrote before the inauguration of the expressway, “The flurry of inauguration of the half-completed Bundelkhand Expressway shows that its design has also been made in the same way, even after being near the defense corridor, the BJP government here, during the SP era. An airstrip like the Agra-Lucknow Expressway that was built could not be built. It is lack of vision to not develop it till Chitrakoot.”

The total length of Bundelkhand Expressway is 296 km. The four-lane expressway has been constructed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) at a cost of about Rs 14,850 crore. According to the information, it can be further expanded to six lanes.
This expressway has 14 long bridges, 6 toll plazas, 4 railway overbridges, 7 ramp plazas, 266 minor bridges and 18 flyovers. After this, the journey from Chitrakoot to the capital Delhi can be completed in about 7 to 8 hours. While the target was set to complete it in 36 months, it was completed in 28 months. Bundelkhand Expressway will connect Agra and Lucknow via Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Etawah.
What PM Modi said: On the occasion of the inauguration, PM Modi said, “The distance from Chitrakoot to Delhi by Bundelkhand Expressway has reduced by 3-4 hours, but its benefit is more than that. This expressway will not only give speed to the vehicles here, but it will also accelerate the industrial progress of the entire Bundelkhand.”
