The series of murders of leaders in Tamil Nadu is not stopping. Investigation is going on in the murder of BSP leader Armstrong in the state and arrests are being made continuously. Meanwhile, the murder of a BJP worker in Sivagangai district has created an uproar. On Saturday, unknown people surrounded a BJP worker on the road and killed him. After the death of the BJP worker, Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai targeted the DMK government of the state regarding law and order. Sivagangai MP Karti P Chidambaram says that this murder had no political connection.

Selvakumar, BJP district secretary of Sivagangai, was returning home from his brick kiln on a two-wheeler on Saturday when some people surrounded him and attacked him, killing him. After the murder, the accused fled leaving Selvakumar’s body on the road. Passersby saw Selvakumar soaked in blood and informed the authorities. Police reached the spot and found that Selvakumar had died. Police took Selvakumar’s body to the government hospital.

Demand to arrest the accused

Villagers and supporters staged protests against Selvakumar’s murder. BJP workers blocked the road and refused to take the body. They demanded that the culprits be arrested immediately. A large number of police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. State BJP chief K Annamalai expressed condolences to Selvakumar’s family and assured the party’s support. Describing Tamil Nadu as the “murder capital”, the Tamil Nadu BJP chief said, “Anti-social elements have no fear of the government or the police. The chief minister, who has the police under his control, is running a political drama.” He also asked M.K. Stalin to introspect whether he has the right to continue as the chief minister of the state.

The series of killing of leaders is not stopping

Meanwhile, Sivaganga MP Karti P Chidambaram claimed there was no political connection to Selvakumar’s murder. “Spoke to Sivaganga district SP regarding the murder, who said the murder was due to enmity between two groups and assured the arrest of the suspects. There is no political angle to it. But the increasing frequency of murders is worrisome,” Karti Chidambaram said on Twitter. This is the second political murder in the state in the last 24 hours. On Saturday, an AIADMK worker was killed in Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu. On July 5, Bahujan Samaj Party state president K Armstrong was murdered by a gang and the killing led to widespread outrage.
