Mamta government and Trinamool have already faced all kinds of allegations regarding the violence after the assembly elections. But still the party leaders are not deterring. In the latest case, the MLA of Mamta Banerjee has talked about the Panchayat elections to be held next year, which is becoming a hot issue.
In fact, Trinamool MLA Kalyan Ghosh is in a video asking party workers to ensure that opposition parties are not allowed to field candidates in next year’s panchayat elections. If still they do so then those candidates should not get even a single vote.
According to The Print, in the video that went viral on Sunday, Ghosh said that we are waiting for a day when the opposition does not have any candidate in Domjur in the 2023 panchayat elections. Even if the opposition parties field a candidate, you should ensure that none of their candidates wins.
However, the MLA from Domjur in Howrah district alleges that only a part of his statement has been kept in the video. What is in front is out of context and the rest has been removed by the opposition party. The Trinamool leader later told the media that we should organize an organization in such a way that every person is a supporter of Didi and the opposition does not get a single vote in the election. His language in front of the media was changed in comparison to the viral video.
On the other hand, the BJP says that this shows the hatred of the Bengal government towards democracy. Reacting to Ghosh’s remarks, BJP secretary Umesh Rai said the last panchayat elections held in 2018 witnessed massive electoral rigging. There were attacks on opposition candidates. Trinamool leader Shobhandev Chatterjee said he cannot say anything on the issue before examining Ghosh’s remarks.
