Former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s statement has come on the claims of Pakistani journalist Nusrat Mirza. BJP has targeted Hamid Ansari and Congress by citing the claim of Pakistani journalist. Nusrat Mirza’s claims have increased the political stir in India. On Wednesday, Hamid Ansari said that a bunch of lies are being run against him in a section of the media, including the official spokesperson of the BJP.
Hamid Ansari said that it is a known fact that the process of inviting foreign guests by the Vice President is done on the advice of the government and mainly involves the Ministry of External Affairs. The former Vice President rejected the talk of meeting or inviting Nusrat Mirza.
In his statement, the former Vice President said, “On December 11, 2010, I inaugurated a conference on terrorism. Normally the guest list was prepared by the organisers, I never invited or received it.” He referred to his ambassador’s tenure in Iran and said, “All the information about my work as ambassador was with the then government. I am bound by a commitment to national security and refrain from commenting on such matters.”
He said that the Government of India has all the information and it is the only authority to tell the truth in this matter. Let us inform that BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia had sought clarification from Hamid Ansari and Congress, citing the claims of a Pakistani journalist.
Taking a jibe at the Congress and the former Vice President, Gaurav Bhatia had said, “Pakistan journalist tells that very sensitive and confidential information was shared not once but five times.” The BJP spokesperson had alleged that he took this information from Hamid Ansari and this information was used against India. BJP leader Bhatia said that the people of the country want to ask whether this was the policy of the then Congress government to end terrorism.
