The central government on Tuesday issued guidelines for anti-coronavirus vaccination of children in the age group of 12 to 14 years starting Wednesday. The government clarified that only children in this age group would be vaccinated against Corbevax. On Monday, the Central Government issued a letter and shared these guidelines with all the states and union territories.
According to the guidelines, two doses of the Corbevax vaccine developed by ‘Biological-E’ will be given to children aged 12 to 14 years at an interval of 28 days. Anti-coronavirus vaccination of children 12 to 14 years will start from March 16 And only the Corbevax vaccine will be used to vaccinate all beneficiaries ages 12 to 13 and 13 to 14. Vaccines have already been given to 14 to 15-year-old children during the 15 to 18-year-old age group. It states that all children born in 2010 or earlier, who have attained the age of 12 years, will be able to register on the Kovin portal.
As per the guidelines, the date of anti-coronavirus vaccination against Corbevax for children 12 to 14 years of age can be booked only through the Covin portal. The vaccinator must ensure that it is being given only to children who have completed 12 years of age on the date of vaccination and if a child is registered but has not reached the age of 12 years, his vaccination Not to be done As per the guidelines, registration can also be done by visiting the vaccination centers in the prescribed format and the date of vaccination can be booked both online and offline.
Precautionary doses will be given to people aged 60 years and above: The guidelines said that all elderly people aged 60 years and above can now be given a precautionary dose and this dose will be given on a priority and sequencing basis after completion of nine months i.e. 39 weeks from the date of second dose. The guidelines stipulate that the same vaccine should be used in the precautionary dose, which was given in the primary vaccination.
