Indian-origin entrepreneur and 30-year-old Harpreet Kaur, who runs a ‘desert parlor’ in northern England, has won the popular UK television show ‘The Handyman’. Harpreet Kaur defeated 16 contestants to win an investment of 2.5 million pounds. Kaur defeated Indian-origin Akshay Thakkar and other budding entrepreneurs from different parts of the UK in the 16th edition of the BBC show run by top businessman Lord Alan Sugar.
On the BBC TV show, Kaur was able to persuade the business leader to support her in promoting her ‘Oh So Yum’ desert parlor range. According to the media report, while talking about her victory, Kaur said that I am very happy that I have won the BBC show ‘The Apprentice’. I have no words to express my happiness. I am very excited about this new version of ‘Oh So Yum’.
Harpreet Kaur is running a successful coffee and cake business in West Yorkshire. He entered the show describing himself as a leader, fearless and funny since birth. She wants to expand her business to the whole of England. Harpreet, who grew up in Birmingham, had said at the beginning of the show that she had come here to make money, not to make friends. Harpreet Kaur’s family runs a store in Hudsurfield. There Kaur used to help the family while studying there. After this, he opened his first desert parlor with his sister.
Every week in the show, the contestants were divided into two teams and given tasks. Assigned work was done. The two teams would then return to the boardroom to discuss their experiences and find out which side won. The winning team is rewarded.
During 12 arduous tasks in the show that was aired weekly, the last four were selected out of 16 candidates. They beat each other for 2.5 lakh pounds and Harpreet won. For the first time this year, all women were present in the finals of the TV show ‘The Handyman’, with Kaur winning as Sugar’s new business partner.
