A case of murder of a Muslim religious leader has come to light in Nashik, Maharashtra. On Tuesday, a 35-year-old Muslim cleric from Afghanistan, Khwaja Syed Chishti, was shot dead. The assailants shot him in the head, killing him on the spot. In this case, the police have informed that the incident was carried out by four unknown accused.
Khwaja Syed Chishti was locally popular as “Sufi Baba”. He was murdered at Yewala, about 200 km from Mumbai. Police said he was shot in the head and died instantly. After which the killers fled in an SUV. Please tell that 35-year-old Sufi Baba belonged to Afghanistan.
According to the police, Syed Chishti was living in Nashik’s Yeola town for several years. Police have denied any religious angle in the murder. Police officer Sachin Patil said the witnesses had named the driver as the main accused of Syed Chishti. The matter is being questioned on the basis of suspicion. The police have seized an SUV of the attackers.
However, the motive behind why this murder was committed is not yet known. In fact, Syed Chishti had acquired the land with the help of local people. Police say that this could also be a reason for the murder. Because he could not buy land in the country as a citizen of Afghanistan.
