The Finance Ministry has released revenue deficit grant of Rs 7,183 crore to 14 states. The Ministry has released this grant based on the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission. Let us inform that an amount of Rs 21,550 crore has been given to the states so far and this is the third monthly installment of the grant in the current financial year.
The Finance Ministry said that in 2022-23, the states will get a total revenue deficit grant of Rs 86,201 crore. This grant is released to the states in the form of installment every month and the Center is providing this financial help to the states to meet the shortfall in their revenue accounts after transfer.
A statement from the ministry said that the states were selected on the basis of criteria laid down by the 15th Finance Commission. The commission had set the norms after considering the difference between the revenue and expenditure assessments of the states and the transfers assessed during the period.
These 14 states include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Tripura and West Bengal.
PM Modi issued new coins of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 rupees
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (June 6, 2022) released a series of new coins of Rs 1, Rs 2, Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 20. The newly issued coins will have the logo of the Amrit Festival of Independence. The specialty of these coins is that even visually impaired people will be able to identify these coins.
PM Modi has issued these new coins at the launch of the Iconic Week celebrations of the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs. Apart from the Prime Minister, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present on this occasion. A coin of Rs 20 was also issued on this occasion. It is not a round but a polygon like other coins. The lion of Ashoka Pillar will be seen in the middle of this coin. This coin is made from nickel silver and brass.
