Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said in an interview to a private channel on the issue of triple talaq that Narendra Modi has put an end to the evil practice that has been going on since the 13th century. Praising PM Modi, he said that the condition of Muslim women and children of the country has improved with the 3 talaq law. Along with this, the divorce rate has come down after the triple talaq law.
Narendra Modi save Muslim family: Arif Mohammad said on India TV Samvad Manch that the triple talaq law brought by the Modi government has reduced the cases of divorce by 90 percent. This has saved Muslim families. The condition of the children after the divorce, their future is left. The issue of triple talaq was not limited to Muslim women only. Arif Mohammad said that Narendra Modi has done work like a social reformer.
At the same time, on the Gyanvapi Masjid dispute and the incidents that happened during the Mughal period, Arif Mohammad said that whatever misdeeds happened during that period, the Muslims would have to accept that it happened, otherwise there would be bitterness among themselves. He said that the way the Truth Commission was formed in South Africa, in the same way we also have to do some work. Arif Mohammad said that during the Mughal period there was no meek rule of Islam.
He further said that whatever misdeeds have been committed by Mahmud Ghaznabi and Aurangzeb, if we do not believe in them, then we are responsible for that. And the bitterness will remain from it. But if we say that the Mughal emperor committed more crime than this. He even kept his father and daughter in captivity.
Arif Mohammad said, “Aurangzeb used to give limited water to his father Shah Jahan in captivity. On this, Shah Jahan wrote a letter to his son in Persian that how are you a Muslim who does not give water to his living father, whereas Hindus even give water to their dead father on the paternal side. Why would I defend Aurangzeb like this?
On the other hand, on those who called Aurangzeb as their ancestor, Arif Mohammad said that it is the pride of our country’s democracy, tradition, principles that we tolerate everyone. Arif said, ‘I am not responsible for what someone did in earlier times, but I am responsible for the memory of the history that has been made. If I don’t accept that, then there will be bitterness in the society.’
