Former Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been questioned thrice by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case. On Wednesday, the investigating agency questioned Rahul Gandhi for more than 9 hours. He has been summoned by the ED for questioning again tomorrow. According to media reports, many questions have been asked to Rahul Gandhi during this interrogation. Responding to one such question, he told the ED that Motilal Vora was handling all financial transactions between AJL and Young Indian Pvt Ltd. Arun Vora, son of the late Motilal Vora, was furious at these reports and said that he cannot do this.
Arun Vora said that these allegations are baseless, Congress leadership cannot be wrong, neither can Voraji. Arun Vora said, “Rahul Gandhi cannot make such allegations against my father.” According to sources, Congress’s Pawan Bansal and Kharge told the ED in their statements that the deal was not decided by one person and that Vora looked after all financial transactions.
On this, Arun Vora said, “I do not know about the statements of Pawan Bansal and Kharge, but truth will always win. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Vora ji (Motilal Vora) will win.” After this report came to the fore, the BJP has become an attacker on the Congress. Congress is strongly opposing the summoning of Rahul Gandhi and interrogation by the ED in the National Herald case. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a complaint in a trial court in 2012 alleging that some Congress leaders were involved in fraud in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd by Young Indian Ltd.
In 1938, Jawaharlal Nehru along with other freedom fighters started a newspaper called National Herald. The newspaper was published by Associated Journals Limited (AJL). But AJL, which was in debt of over Rs 90 crore, closed down in 2008.
