The protest against the objectionable remarks made against Prophet Mohammad by Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma is not stopping. Violence took place in many cities of the country after Friday prayers. Now the Bajrang Dal has announced a nationwide demonstration in protest against the same violence. At the same time, Bajrang Dal has said that they will submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind and will stage a sit-in against the increasing extremist incidents.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad said that youth workers of Bajrang Dal will stage a sit-in on Thursday and submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind. The VHP issued a statement saying, “Bajrang Dal will hold a nationwide protest on Thursday against the recent incidents of violence over the remarks against Prophet Mohammad. The picketing is against rising extremist incidents by Islamic Jihadist extremists. The President will also submit a memorandum to Kovind.
Maulana Tauqir Raza on Friday (17 June 2022) appealed to the people in Bareilly to join the protest demanding the arrest of Nupur Sharma. But the police have issued a warning that if anyone demonstrated, action would be taken against them. The administration has taken such a decision in view of the law and order situation.

After this, the people of the Muslim organization had opposed his remark and demanded his arrest. Arab countries had also protested against Nupur Sharma’s remarks and summoned Indian ambassadors and demanded action from India. Later, BJP took action and suspended Nupur Sharma from the party till the completion of the investigation.
Case registered against journalist Navika Kumar
Senior TV journalist Navika Kumar has also been named in the FIR lodged against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The police gave this information on Tuesday. Sharma had made alleged objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad during a program of Kumar on the news channel ‘Times Now’. An FIR was registered against Navika Kumar at Nanalpeth police station on Monday on the complaint of a Muslim cleric who had accused him of hurting religious sentiments. Times Now presenters Navika Kumar and Nupur Sharma have been booked under section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), a police officer said.
350 people arrested in UP
In connection with the violence during the protest against the alleged objectionable remarks of Nupur Sharma in UP, so far 13 FIRs have been registered and 350 accused have been arrested in this case. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said in a statement issued here on Tuesday evening, “350 people have been arrested from nine districts of the state and 13 FIRs have been registered in this regard in nine districts. 92 people have been arrested in Prayagraj, 84 in Saharanpur, 55 in Hathras, 41 in Ambedkar Nagar, 40 in Moradabad, 20 in Firozabad, 6 in Aligarh, 5 in Jalaun and 7 in Lakhimpur Kheri.
Case filed against 200 people in Maharashtra
Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi Police has registered two cases against over 200 people for allegedly gathering illegally to protest against Nupur Sharma’s supporters. Police said that some people marched to the house of Mukesh Baburam Chavan and Saad Ansari and protested their post in support of Nupur Sharma on social media. Some of the protesters also allegedly attacked Ansari.
A case has been registered against 150 people at Bhiwandi’s Bhoiwada police station and 65 at Narpoli police station, officials said. He said that a case has been registered under sections 141, 143, 322, 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Police said that no one has been arrested in the case so far.
