Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has advocated training of Sikhs in martial arts as well as keeping arms. On the 38th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, he said that we will give arms training to Sikh youth. Shooting ranges will be made for this. He said that Sikhs do not oppress anyone, rather they stop atrocities. But the need of the hour is that Sikhs should be given arms.
According to the news of Indian Express, Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said that the strategy to weaken the Sikhs was prepared in the time of Jawaharlal Nehru after independence. For this reason, Operation Blue Star was carried out in 1984. Nehru was against the Sikhs from the very beginning. Whatever his politics was, it was aimed at weakening the Sikhs.
The Jathedar has also expressed concern about the promotion of Christianity in Punjab. He said that all this is being done under a conspiracy to weaken Sikhism. He said that now there is a need for Sikh intellectuals to leave their AC rooms and come out of their homes and go to the villages to propagate themselves. This is the need of the changing times.
Harpreet Singh said that if we are weak religiously then we will also become weak financially. Then our influence, socially and politically also, will start ending. He said that youth are falling in the grip of drugs, who need to be made aware about religion. Martial arts training is being started so that they stay away from drugs.
