Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Germany on Sunday to attend the G-7 meeting, where he was accorded a warm welcome by Indians. On Sunday evening, PM Modi addressed the Indian community at a community event in Munich. The Prime Minister began his address by referring to the Emergency. He called Emergency a dark chapter.
Addressing the Indian diaspora, PM Modi said, “Today (June 26) is known for another reason. The democracy which is our pride, the democracy which is in the DNA of every Indian, 47 years ago on this day, an attempt was made to take hostage, crush democracy by imposing emergency. He said that India is called Mother of Democracy. Significantly, on 25 June 1975, the Indira Gandhi government declared emergency.
Like a dark spot in the history of India: The Prime Minister further said, “The period of emergency is like a dark spot in the Vibrant Democratic history of India, but on this dark spot the supremacy of the centuries-old democratic traditions is also in full force. won.” He said that democratic traditions overshadowed these antics. The people of India gave the answer to all the conspiracies to crush democracy, in a democratic way.
India is Mother of Democracy: In his address PM Modi said, “We Indians take pride in our democracy wherever we live. Every Indian proudly says, India is the Mother of Democracy. The PM said to the overseas Indians present in the program, “I am seeing the culture, unity and brotherhood of India in all of you. I will never forget this love of yours. With this love, enthusiasm and enthusiasm of yours, the chest of those who are watching in India must have filled with pride.
