West Bengal’s ADG Law and Order Javed Shamim has said about the Howrah violence that no one was killed or injured in this. More than 200 accused have been taken into custody. While 42 cases have been registered so far. The situation is calm and internet service has been restored. Dhana 144 has been imposed in some areas as a precaution. However, his statement did not go down well with Shubhendu Adhikari.
Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Shubhendu said that his name is Javed Shamim. A hint to the wise is enough. The officer said that this statement has not been given by a police officer but in the form of a politician. This is a purely political statement. Such a statement after the violence cannot be expected at all from a responsible police officer.
Javed Shamim has been in controversies before. Before the West Bengal assembly elections, the then ADG Law and Order Javed Shamim was removed by the Election Commission. DG Fire Services Jagan Mohan was made the new ADG in place of Shamim. While Javed Shamim was made DG Fire Service in his place. He was accused of acting like a worker in favor of Trinamool. For now, he has again come under the scanner.
#WATCH , “It’s a political statement. It’s not a statement that should’ve come from a senior police officer. His name is Jawed Shamim, samajhdaar ko ishaara kaafi hai..,” says West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari on ADG & IGP (Law & Order) ) Jawed Shaim’s statement on Howrah violence https://t.co/Wx8lxMSBTE pic.twitter.com/CBIsYjeezU

It should be noted that violence broke out in many parts of Bengal including Howrah over the controversial statement of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma on Mohammad Prophet. During this there was a fierce clash between the police-protesters. Incidents of clashes were also reported in Murshidabad late Saturday evening. So far 60 people have been arrested for the violent demonstration in Howrah. Taking action, the government transferred police officers in Howrah district.
Protesters pelted stones and damaged a local train at Bethuadahari railway station in Nadia district on Sunday. Train services on that route have been suspended following the incident. When the police lathi-charged the crowd while jamming the National Highway-34 on Sunday, some people reached Bethuadahari railway station and pelted stones at a train parked there.
