After the killing of Siddu Musewala, questions have started being raised on the decision of the Mann government, under which the security of the opposition leaders is being withdrawn as an attack on the VIP culture. Questions have been raised on this matter as to who is benefiting from the decision of the Bhagwant Mann government. After the death of Musewala, the question has arisen whether this decision is a political change, through which the opponents are being accounted for.
The security of the Punjabi singer was also withdrawn. He had four commandos. However, DGP Punjab says that he had called back only two commandos. Two were with Musewala but he did not take them with him today.
On the previous day, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann cut the VIP security in Punjab for the fourth time. The security cover of 424 people, including the head of the dera, three ADGPs, several former MLAs, including the Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib, was withdrawn by the government. About 3000 policemen deployed for the security of these VIPs are now being deployed under normal duty to protect the common people.
The Punjab government has cut the security of VIPs thrice in the past. Under this, 129 policemen and 9 pilot vehicles have been recalled, reducing the security of eight big leaders including Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar and former Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni.
For the first time, on March 13, the security of 122 former MLAs and ministers was withdrawn. After that, on 23 April, the security of 184 former ministers and MLAs was withdrawn. For the third time on May 11, the security of eight VIPs was withdrawn. Musewala was also included in their list.
On Saturday, when the government released the fourth list, many leaders got upset. AAP MLA Kanwar Sandhu had instructed the government on Twitter not to make the names of these people public. If any of these are attacked, will the media houses be accused in the case? First Congress and now BJP leader Fateh Jung Bajwa says that if his security is not returned then he will file a case of contempt. Congress MLAs have approached the High Court last week to remove the security.
