Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday announced the names of the ministers to be inducted into his cabinet, who will take oath on Saturday. There have been many such faces in this election who have come after winning the election for the first time. Notably, for the first time in the 16th Assembly, 13 women have come as MLAs. This number is double as compared to the last assembly elections. There were 6 women in the last house.
In the Punjab assembly elections 2022, 10 women have come for the first time while three are reaching the assembly for the second time. Among these women candidates who won the election, the maximum 11 are from the ruling party Aam Aadmi Party. While one woman MLA is from Shiromani Akali Dal and one from Congress.
Talking about the education of these elected women MLAs, out of 13, 2 are doctors and 9 are graduates. While there is 1 ITI and one 12th pass. The richest among women MLAs is Ganeer Kaur who has assets of 12.07 crores. Ganeev Kaur, who won from Majitha, is the wife of Bikram Singh Majithian. At the same time, Narinder Kaur Bharaj, who won from Sangrur, has assets worth only 24 thousand rupees.
Narinder Kaur, 27, is also the youngest MLA. Narinder Kaur’s name is being discussed the most since the results of Punjab elections were announced. Narinder Kaur defeated senior Congress leader and cabinet minister Vijay Inder Singla in Punjab by a huge margin of about 36,000 votes.
64-year-old Aruna Chaudhary has assets worth 7.79 crores. Neena Mittal is the owner of assets worth 8.89 crores. Jeevanjot has assets worth 4.27 crores. 32-year-old Anmol Gagan is the owner of assets worth 1.23 crores. Dr. Amandeep has assets of 2 crores and has a liability of 48 lakhs. Santosh Kataria has assets worth 53.42 lakhs.
A total of 90 women candidates were in the fray in the Punjab Legislative Elections. Aam Aadmi Party had given tickets to the maximum 12 candidates, out of which 11 have won the elections.
