Since the launch of the ambitious Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana of the central government, only 60 per cent of the 96,996 projects planned have been completed. Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana was launched in October 2014. This information was given by Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha by Komati Venkata Reddy, M Srinivasa Reddy. The members had sought information about the progress of Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
The Minister said that according to the latest data given on the portal of this scheme, out of 96,996 projects planned for village development in Panchayats under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), 58,228 projects have been implemented, which is 60 percent of the total projects.
Whether some villages have lagged behind in making progress in respect of Adarsh Gaon Yojana under various schemes in the country, Singh said, ‘No, no. The gram panchayats set under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana are continuously developing. Gram Panchayats prepare village development plans in which the proposed activities are implemented in coordination with various schemes of the Central Government and the schemes of the States.
The Minister said that the States and Union Territories send their suggestions to the Central Government from time to time. These suggestions are periodically discussed by the National Level Committee on Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana headed by the Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development with the representatives of the concerned Ministries/Departments. He informed that 17 Ministries/Departments have amended the guidelines of schemes and programs to give priority to Gram Panchayats related to Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
According to the data presented by the government in the Lok Sabha, 15,698 rural development activities have been decided under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Program, out of which 8,806 have been completed so far. Similarly, out of 3,686 activities scheduled under the Swachh Bharat Mission, 2,612 were completed. Out of 3,396 programs prepared under the MPLAD, 1,882 were completed.
Under the National Rural Health Mission under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, 2,194 programs were made, out of which 1,324 were completed. In this, 1,847 activities of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin were scheduled and 1,246 were completed. According to government data, 1,794 activities have been decided under the State Plan Fund under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, out of which 1,158 have been completed.
In this, out of 1,599 activities under National Rural Livelihoods Mission, 1,332 have been completed. This includes 989 out of 1,644 activities under Integrated Agriculture Development Scheme, 807 out of 1,543 programs under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, 502 projects out of 986 under National Rural Drinking Water Program and 388 out of 904 activities under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Huh.
It is worth mentioning that the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana for the development of villages was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address on the occasion of Independence Day in 2014 from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The scheme was launched on 11 October 2014. Under this, the MPs have to select an ‘Adarsh Village’ in their area and develop it.
