Let us tell you that in the midst of political turmoil in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant said on Sunday that there is political turmoil in Maharashtra, many MLAs have defected to Assam. We have initiated legal action against them and so far 16 MLAs have been served notices.
“Proceedings have been initiated by Shiv Sena against 16 MLAs, as per the provision in the Constitution, if a person quits the membership of a party, he is disqualified,” Shivsena’s senior advocate Devdutt Kamat said. He said that several meetings were called by Shiv Sena at different times. None of these 16 MLAs participated in these meetings. It amounts to violation by them visiting BJP ruled states, meeting BJP leaders and trying to topple the government.
Significantly, Kamat said that merger was the only way left for the rebels to avoid disqualification. Without merging these people cannot escape disqualification. Unless the rebel MLAs merge with another party, disqualification applies to them.
Governor asks Home Secretary Central Security Forces: It is known that in Maharashtra, incidents of sabotage by Shiv Sena workers have come to the fore regarding rebel MLAs. In such a situation, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has first written a letter to the Director General of Police of the state, asking him to provide immediate security to the MLAs of the Shinde camp and their families.
At the same time, the Governor has written a letter to the Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, asking him to keep the central forces ready in case the law and order situation deteriorates in the state. This comes after allegations of violence were leveled by rebel Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde, who are currently camping in Guwahati.
The Indian Express quoted the letter as saying that the Governor had sent this letter on June 25. While he was in the hospital. In the letter, he informed Bhalla that he had asked the police to provide adequate security to the MLAs, but even after that the police remained a mute spectator.
