Highest debt on these states: In this matter, the states considered to be the foremost of India are at the top. According to the Department of Expenditure, Government of India, Tamil Nadu has a debt of Rs 6.6 lakh crore, Maharashtra Rs 6 lakh crore, West Bengal Rs 5.6 lakh crore, Rajasthan Rs 4.7 lakh crore and Punjab Rs 3 lakh crore.
Officials expressed concern over rising debt: There was a meeting held recently between the Prime Minister and the top officials of the Center. In this, officials had expressed concern about the populist promises made in many states during the elections. Officials said that due to such promises, there may be more burden on the treasury of the state governments and the situation in many states of the country may also be like Sri Lanka. This meeting lasted for about 4 hours, in which NSA Ajit Doval, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra and Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba besides many big IAS officers of the country attended.
India sent help to Sri Lanka: In the midst of the growing economic crisis, the condition of the people of Sri Lanka is suffering from inflation. According to media reports, the price of a tea in Sri Lanka has reached around Rs 100. People don’t have things to eat and drink. Power cuts of 13- 13 hours are being given in the capital of Sri Lanka. India has recently sent four consignments of 40 thousand diesel and 40 thousand tonnes of rice to Sri Lanka.
