Rajya Sabha elections are to be held on 11 seats in UP. For which 8 BJP and 3 seats Samajwadi Party has fielded its candidates. On the other hand, another independent candidate, Sant Mouni Falhari Baba, resident of Mathura, had filled the form. However, his application has been rejected. In this situation, it is now believed that BJP and SP candidates will win unopposed in the elections.
Why the paper was rejected: Let us tell you that the nomination of independent candidate Mouni Baba has been rejected because of the proposer. The proposer is a member of the Legislative Assembly. In such a situation, the nomination paper is accepted only when a candidate has 10 MLAs as proposers. At the same time, Mouni Baba did not have any proposer MLA, so his nomination has been rejected.
What is the situation now: After the rejection of Mouni Baba’s form, now 11 candidates are left in 11 seats. In which 8 are from BJP and 3 are from SP. The BJP alliance has 273 MLAs in the assembly. Whereas a Rajya Sabha candidate requires the votes of 34 MLAs. Accordingly, the victory of all the eight BJP candidates is certain. On the other hand, if we look at the situation of the SP alliance in the assembly, then there are 125 MLAs, that too can easily send three members to the Rajya Sabha.
It is believed that on the date of withdrawal of nomination, all the 11 candidates will be given a certificate of victory. At the same time, the date of withdrawal of nomination is June 3. It is worth mentioning that in July, the term of 5 of BJP, 3 of SP, 2 of Bahujan Samaj Party and one Rajya Sabha member from Congress is going to end in July. In such a situation, the date of voting for these 11 seats is on June 10.
Who is the candidate: Talking about the BJP candidates, the party has nominated Laxmikant Bajpai, Surendra Singh Nagar, Baburam Nishad, Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, Darshana Singh, Sangeeta Yadav, Mithilesh Kumar and K Laxman to the Rajya Sabha. Whereas SP has fielded Javed Ali Khan. Apart from this, he has supported RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary and independent Kapil Sibal.
When will the counting be done: Nominations can be withdrawn till June 3 for the Rajya Sabha elections. On June 10, polling will be held from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will also take place on the same day.
