The capital Delhi recorded the lowest minimum temperature in a decade in the month of May following heavy rains on Monday. The rains that started in Delhi-NCR from Sunday continued till the early hours of Tuesday, giving relief to the residents of Delhi from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there is no possibility of heatwave in Delhi for the next five days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be relief from heat wave in the rest of the country except western Rajasthan for the next five days. The IMD said, “Heat heat may occur at some places over West Rajasthan on May 26 and 27.” Apart from this, there will be no heat and heat conditions in any part of the country during the next five days. According to Skymet Weather, light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places over Kerala, South Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
Rain in Northwest and East India: According to the IMD, it will rain over Northwest and East India during the next two days. Light to moderate rain with thunder, lightning and gusty winds very likely over isolated parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The IMD expressed the possibility of a reduction in scattered rains over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh from May 25, 2022.
Along with this, an increase in maximum temperature can be seen in the plains of North India in the next few days. The maximum temperature in Delhi on May 27 and 28 may exceed 40 degrees. According to Skymet Weather, pre-monsoon activity can be seen in the plains including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh around May 28 and 29. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 17.2 degrees Celsius on Monday. Which is nine degrees below normal. This was the lowest temperature recorded for May in the city since May 1, 2004. The minimum temperature so far for May is 15.2 °C, which was recorded on 2 May 1982.
Heavy rain and snowfall in Kedarnath Valley: On the other hand, Kedarnath Yatra has also been stopped near Sonprayag due to heavy rain and snowfall. Due to continuous rain and snowfall, a drop in temperature has been recorded. An orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding rain in Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib including Badrinath Dham, the temperature has dropped significantly due to rain and snowfall for 2 days. The mercury has dropped to -9 degrees in Hemkund Sahib and -5 degrees in Badrinath. The temperature in Kedarnath too is -3 to -4 degrees.
