Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tapir Gaon called Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari the ‘spiderman’ who laid the road network in the country for road construction. Tapir said that he has named Nitin Gadkari ‘Spiderman’ because he is working like a spider lays a web. The more they are appreciated, the less they will get.
During the discussion in the Lok Sabha, Tapir said that after the Modi government came, the work of construction of roads near the border with China is going on fast. Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh said that Modi hai to mumkin hai, Gadkari hai to mumkin hai. He said that he hopes that ‘Spiderman’ will continue to carry forward the speed at which he is building roads. The country and the Northeast will continue to move forward like this.
On Monday, members of almost all opposition parties in the Lok Sabha praised Gadkari for building roads in the country. But he also raised questions on the issue of quality and maintenance of roads. Opposition MPs also alleged lack of transparency in toll collection. Opposition parties, including the Congress, demanded the government to pay special attention to road safety and curb accidents.
RSP KNK Premachandran said that being a member of the opposition, he often opposes many policies of the government, but supports the demands for grants of the Ministry of Roads and Highways. He said that he is supporting the demand for a grant for the first time in the House. Imtiaz Jaleel of AIMIM also praised Gadkari’s work saying that politics has its place but the work is really good.
Congress’s Benny Behnan said that this government is privatizing the country’s major assets. Gadkari is requested to save the roads from this. Congress’ Jasbir Singh Gill said there should be uniformity in giving compensation while acquiring land for construction of highways. The Demands for Grants for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for 2022-23 was discussed in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
