TMC MP Mahua Moitra
In about a month’s time, the BJP, which describes itself as the ‘world’s largest political party’, will not have a single Muslim MP in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha, and not only that – the party has Muslim legislators in all 31 states and union territories. number is zero. The only two questions we need to ask ourselves as we face the new representational reality that will unfold on July 7 – when the last Muslim BJP MP’s term in the Rajya Sabha comes to an end – are these two questions: Will it matter? Is? And do we care? This is to say of TMC MP Mahua Moitra.
In an article in The Indian Express, the TMC MP, referring to some of the reactions on social media, said, “If BJP supporters do not understand that despite having 301 MPs (55 per cent) in the Lok Sabha, the party has a single What’s wrong with not being a Muslim; With 95 MPs (38 per cent) in Rajya Sabha and 1,379 MLAs (33 per cent) from different states, it is a sad reflection of how neurotic minded people now dominate the thinking process of the majority.
She says it really matters that in a country of about 204 million Muslims who make up 15 percent of the population, the ruling party does not have a single Muslim elected representative in its third term in power. This indicates that the BJP actively discriminates against Muslims.
TMC MP gave advice to BJP
Mahua Moitra continues, “I say this to the BJP – a political party is fundamentally different from a private dinner party; You don’t have the freedom to invite the people you want just because you’re paying in exchange for food. Muslims are an integral part of the blood and body of this country, and any politics that results in their exclusion from decision-making and opinion-making processes is not an acceptable outcome in the 75th year of India’s independence. It matters and you should care about it.”
