New Delhi . India -based Chinese Embassy issued 85,000 visas to Indian citizens between January 1 to April 9, 2025. The step was taken as part of a major effort to increase the contact between the people of the two countries. Chinese Ambassador Xu Faihong wrote on X, “By April 9, 2025, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in India have issued more than 85,000 visas to Indian citizens traveling to China this year. More and more Indian friends are welcome to visit China, so that they can experience an open, secure, lively, honest and friendly China.”
A significant increase in the number of visas is seen, 85,000 visas have been issued in the first four months of 2025. While 1,80,000 visas were issued by 2023.
Last year, the Chinese Embassy updated its visa application conditions and provided several major discounts.
Indian applicants no longer need to book online appointments before submitting their visa application. Instead, they can submit applications at visa centers directly during working days. At the same time, people applying for short -term, single or double -penetrated visas for a period of 180 days were exempted from providing biometric data such as fingerprints.
Along with these changes, the Chinese Embassy has also reduced the visa application fee. New, low fees have been implemented for applicants.
China has released this information at a time when US President Donald Trump has warned of a possible trade fee on almost every country. His target is especially China, which is Washington’s major business partner and economic rival.
Trump has increased the US tariff on Chinese imports to 145 percent, while the new tariffs on goods in other countries have stopped. In retaliation, China has imposed 125 percent tariffs on US products.
China also appealed to India and other countries to stand against ‘American tariff abuse’.
The Chinese Embassy spokesman U Jing in India said last week that India and China should unite against American tariff actions, as the two largest developing countries.
