In the last few months, many pirate attacks have been reported in this area. Due to which various rescue operations have been conducted by the Indian Navy. The Navy Chief said that merchant ships like MV Rouen, which was rescued in a major operation in the Arabian Sea, are also being used by pirates as ‘mother ships’. He said the Indian Navy is now keeping a close watch on the southern group, which may have 35-60 pirates. The ship MV Abdullah may have been hijacked, which is suspected to be used as a mother ship.

There is a possibility of 35-60 pirates in the southern group.
He said, ‘We have always suspected that there were big mother ships there and we were thinking that they might be carrying pirates. But what surprised us was that MV Rouen was being used as a mother ship after being hijacked in Somali waters three months ago. We suspect that there may be a southern group consisting of 35-60 pirates. Admiral Kumar said the Navy is keeping a close watch on MV Abdullah which has been hijacked and could be used as a mother ship. It is noteworthy that 35 Somali pirates captured by the Indian Navy were handed over to Mumbai Police on Saturday after customs and immigration formalities.
