Indian athletes have started showing their prowess in Paris Olympics 2024. The sport of rowing is quite new for a country like India. In this sport, India’s star athlete Balraj Panwar has raised India’s name in the Paris Olympics. Let us tell you that Balraj Panwar’s life has not been easy. He has faced a lot of difficulties to reach here. Balraj Panwar lost his father at an early age. After which many difficulties came in his life. Which he faced bravely.

This is how he made a comeback in life

After losing his father at a young age, Balraj Panwar sought a position in the Indian Army to be able to support his family. Little did he know that within four years of joining the Army, he would become the only rower to represent India at the Paris Olympics. At the Paris Olympics, he took part in the qualifying round of rowing on July 27. Where he finished fourth in his heat. To advance to the quarterfinals, he had to finish in the top 3. He could then qualify for the next round through the repechage and on July 28, by finishing second in the repechage, he has reached the quarterfinals.

The MS Dhoni of Indian rowing!

He has only one goal for the Paris Olympics. To perform a personal best. He believes this will be enough for him to reach the semi-finals, a stage no Indian rower has reached so far. Interestingly, his nickname on the Olympic website is written as “MS Dhoni of Indian rowing”, which caused him a lot of embarrassment. He had said, “Dhoni is such a great athlete; how can I be compared to him? My name can be taken along with him only if I achieve something big. Maybe if I win a medal then it will be okay.”
